First Impressions, Race Day Proof — Malin's Fuelling Story

Not every athlete finds products that work first time. Malin Barulf did.

She first tried the range on a 30k trail run with 1,000m of elevation. What she was looking for was simple — products easy enough to get down during hard effort, without the stomach issues she had experienced before.

Precision 30g Carbohydrate Gel

"Oh, so nice. I love that it feels smooth, easy to get down and not so much flavour — which is a big plus."

Precision 30g Carbohydrate Gel with Caffeine (100mg)

"A bit more flavour, but still easy to get down. I haven't used caffeine gels in a while because of bad experiences in the past — but I definitely want to learn how and when to use it properly in a race."

OTE Strawberry Chew

"Absolutely love this. Normally I find it hard to chew during training and racing but this I definitely want to mix in during races."

She also passed a Precision gel to fellow ultrarunner Anna Ståhlkloo mid-run. Anna, an experienced athlete preparing for a 100-mile race in Lofoten, compared them directly against Maurten and Umara — and preferred Precision. That is a meaningful benchmark.

Race Day — UKA Pain 52k

Malin arrived at the start line having had a difficult few days — a stomach that was not cooperating and feeling empty before the gun. Despite that, she averaged 80g of carbohydrates per hour across the race, entirely from gels — a personal best. No stomach issues. Good energy throughout. Both caffeine gels went down without problems.

Her only note: she did not bring enough fuel. She could have gone higher.

"Good energy all day and no stomach problems during the race. Could probably manage 90g because it was really easy to down the Precision fuel — I simply did not bring enough."

That is the sign of a gut that has adapted and products that deliver. For an athlete returning to racing post-pregnancy, that result matters.
